House is a radical workshop made for theatre spaces and theatre audiences. Through the action of smashing up unwanted furniture found from the streets and then rebuilding sculptures from the mess, the audience are given space and time to contemplate what it means to be resourceful, caring, creative and passionate in a world where late stage capitalism and materialistic intentions rule. There is singing, toasting and little presentations about how we think things should change.
House has been developed in a range of contexts from young people in a dramatic context, to older people in experimental theatre and live art festival settings. It was originally made for Forest Fringe 2009, and has gone onto appear at Arches Live! 2009 and Mayfest, Bristol, 2010.
